RE-INVEST INDIAs 1st Renewable Energy Global Investment Promotion Meet and Expo


The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India organised the first Renewable Energy Global Investors Meet & Expo (RE-INVEST) between 15-17 February 2015 in New Delhi as a follow up of the “Make in India” initiative launched by Prime Minister. The event was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. 

This event aimed to connect the global investment community with renewable energy stakeholders in India. The event focused on sectors like Solar; Wind; Bio-energy; Small Hydro; Geothermal & Ocean Energy (Tidal / Wave). The focus on wind sector especially the offshore wind was encouraging and provided an opportunity to introduce FOWIND and its objectives to representatives from Government, Public Sector Enterprises, renewable power developers and manufacturers, state renewable energy nodal agencies.

RE-INVEST featured a three day Conference scheduled on 15 - 17 February 2015.Mr. Steve Sawyer (Secretary General, GWEC & Chair FOWIND Project Executive Committee) was the Chair and Moderator for the session on Grid Connected Wind Power with focus on Offshore and a side event which focused on Offshore wind sector. Mr. Christopher Garrett (Senior Offshore Wind Farm Engineer, Renewable Energy Services, DNV GL) was a panelist.Mr. Steve Sawyer was also a panelist on a side event which focused on Offshore wind industry. FOWIND has also taken this opportunity to publish the ‘Offshore Wind Policy and Market Assessment Outlook’. A press release marking the launch of the report on 17th February 2015 was released in New Delhi. The report launch was covered by national and international media.

FOWIND participated in the exhibition which was organised alongside the conference from 15 -17 February 2015. The FOWIND deliverables like Project Inception report, Newsletters and Offshore Wind Policy report were made available at the exhibition kiosk. Visitors who had interest in the offshore wind sector visited our stall and enquired about our project objectives, our progress and action plan. The visitors were very interested to know more about our deliverables and we circulated more than 300 copies of each of our project publications.
